Kent first began his career in real estate in 1981, when he acquired his Florida sales associate real estate license.  From 1982 – 1985 he worked primarily as a sales agent for Petrandis Realty, Inc., focusing on residential and commercial sales and sales of ongoing businesses.  In 1985 Kent started working for Capital Property Consultants as a residential and commercial sales agent and manager.  It was here that he got his first taste of leasing properties and property management.  Kent worked for Capital Property Consultants until 1988 when he decided to fully devote himself as a property manager and took a job at Town Management Century 21, where he stayed until 1990.  While at Town Management, Kent managed 425 rental units and learned all aspects of what it meant to be a property manager.

After 10 years of working in both real estate sales and property management, Kent became licensed as a Florida Broker and opened Kent Strauss Management and Realty in 1991.  Almost 30 years later, Kent Strauss Management and Realty is still one of the most well-known and highly regarded property management companies in Tallahassee.  Kent Strauss Management manages over 550 residential rental units for over 150 owners.  KSM specializes in investment acquisitions and liquidation of properties for clients and the general public.  All of the property managers were personally trained by Kent and have the benefit of his almost 40 years of experience and knowledge always available to them.  Due to his hard work and years of experience, Kent has built a strong, lasting company and filled it with dedicated, knowledgeable staff.  Kent retired in August of 2021 and his daughter, Elizabeth Strauss, took over as the new Owner/Broker of Kent Strauss Management and Realty.  Kent has stayed on as a Broker Associate in sales and staff advisor.
